Deer Park Country House Wedding | Sophie & Stuart

There’s something truly special about a wedding at Deer Park Country House, tucked away in the rolling countryside near Honiton in Devon. As a Devon and Somerset wedding photographer, I’m always drawn to venues that offer space, light, and variety – and Sophie & Stuart’s May 2025 wedding had all of that and more.

This was my first time photographing a wedding at Deer Park in 2025, and with three weddings already booked there in 2026, I can safely say this venue has well and truly won me over.

A Fun & Relaxed Morning at Deer Park

The day started with warm sunshine and a calm, happy energy. Sophie got ready in the Play House, a brilliant little space filled with light and character. The morning was a perfect balance of gentle nerves and calm confidence, with Sophie taking everything in stride.

Over at The Shed, Stuart and the boys were getting ready in style. Fully kitted out with tech, toys, and plenty of distractions, it made for a fun and relaxed atmosphere. Stuart was an absolute pleasure to be around – friendly, upbeat, and clearly buzzing for what was to come.

An Outdoor Ceremony in the Devon Sunshine

It turned out to be a hot and bright May day, ideal for an outdoor ceremony. The ceremony space at Deer Park is one of my favourites to photograph outdoors – open, scenic, and beautifully positioned within the grounds.

With around 60 guests during the day, the ceremony felt intimate and personal, while still making the most of the venue’s scale and surroundings. Deer Park can host up to 190 guests, but Sophie & Stuart’s guest numbers suited the space perfectly.

A Relaxed Day Full of Moments

After the ceremony, the day unfolded at a beautifully easy pace. With just over 60 guests during the day, everything felt intimate, personal, and wonderfully relaxed. There was plenty of time for group photos, lots of laughs, and moments where Sophie & Stuart could simply enjoy being surrounded by their favourite people.

Their dog even popped by for some lovely photos, which added a really personal touch to the day. Deer Park is brilliant for this kind of wedding—there’s space to breathe, mingle, and let the day naturally unfold without ever feeling rushed.

Golden Hour Portraits & Evening Energy

Before sunset, we had some fun with the bridal party using smoke flares, creating a few bold, energetic shots that really matched the vibe of the day. As the light softened, Sophie & Stuart slipped away for their couple portraits, taking full advantage of that warm golden hour glow.

Deer Park has so many stunning spots for portraits—you could easily keep shooting all evening—but I didn’t want to be greedy and steal them away from their guests for too long. As the sun dipped, everyone came back together ready for the evening celebrations, setting the tone perfectly for what was to come next.

Live Music, First Dance & Sparkler Celebrations

As the evening rolled in, the celebrations stepped up a gear. A live band played Sophie & Stuart into their first dance, and from that moment on the party was in full swing.

Later in the night, guests lined up for sparklers, creating the perfect atmosphere to end a brilliant wedding day, full of laughter, music, and ener

I genuinely loved capturing Sophie & Stuart’s Deer Park wedding. A relaxed timeline, a stunning Devon venue, great guests, and a couple who were an absolute joy to photograph.
