Understanding Wedding Photography
Why Dorset Is a Beautiful Place to Get Married
Dorset offers one of the most breathtaking backdrops for weddings in the UK. From dramatic coastlines to rolling countryside and historic villages, the county has everything couples need for a truly unforgettable celebration.
Dorset is known for:
- World-famous coastline – including the Jurassic Coast and iconic landmarks such as Durdle Door.
- Beautiful countryside – golden fields, woodland, hills and sweeping rural landscapes.
- Historic estates & manor houses – perfect for elegant, timeless weddings.
- Rustic barns & coastal venues – ideal for relaxed, modern celebrations.
- Incredible sunsets – especially along the coastline and elevated countryside spots.
Whether you’re planning a barn wedding, coastal elopement, or a luxury celebration in a stately home, Dorset gives you everything required for beautiful, storytelling photography.

Natural & Relaxed Dorset Wedding Photography
My approach is simple: allow your day to unfold naturally and photograph it beautifully.
I work in a mostly documentary way – quietly capturing everything from early morning excitement and emotional moments with family to confetti chaos, speeches, dancing and those magical golden-hour portraits.
What you’ll get is:
- Genuine, unposed moments
- Stunning portraits without the awkwardness
- A timeless story of your day
- A calm, friendly photographer who blends in with your guests
Your job: enjoy your wedding.
My job: tell the story of it through images that feel real.

Bella & Gianni
Crowcombe COURT wedding in Somerset
“An incredibly skilled photographer, Paul exceeded expectations for our wedding. His role extended beyond merely capturing photos; he actively orchestrated the day, even quelling my unexpected morning anxiety.
The day after the wedding, we received snapshot photos. To say we are pleased would be a complete understatement. These photos surpassed our expectations, brimming with enchantment and originality. I cannot stress enough how much Paul put everyone at ease whilst still managing to organise photos at a particularly sizable wedding.
Paul remained inconspicuous throughout the day, and the timeless, remarkable photos stand as a testament to his expertise and experience.
I wholeheartedly recommend entrusting Paul with creative control, allowing him to perform his magic.”
FAQs – Wedding Photographer in Dorset
1. Do you travel across Dorset for weddings?
Yes, I cover all areas of Dorset including Bournemouth, Poole, Bridport, Dorchester, Weymouth, Christchurch and the entire Jurassic Coast. Travel is included in most bookings.
2. How far ahead should we book?
Dorset is incredibly popular for weddings, especially from May to September. Dates often book 12–24 months in advance, so it’s best to enquire as soon as you secure your venue.
3. We’re camera shy… is that a problem?
Not at all! Almost every couple says this. My relaxed documentary approach means you can enjoy your day while I photograph authentic moments without directing you constantly.
4. Do you photograph coastal weddings or elopements?
Yes! Dorset’s coastline is one of my favourite places to photograph. I regularly shoot coastal weddings, intimate ceremonies and sunset sessions along the Jurassic Coast.
5. How long until we receive our full gallery?
You’ll get a sneak peek shortly after the wedding and your full gallery typically within 3–5 weeks, depending on the season.

Planning a Destination Wedding in 2026, 2027 or 2028?
Travelling more than 100 miles of travel from where the bride and groom reside is deemed as a destination wedding. But flying abroad to tie the knot is my kind of elopement!
As you plan your two becoming one day for 2026, 2027 or maybe 2028, it’s essential to consider the logistics of your celebration. Start by researching venues that align with your vision and budget. It’s advisable to visit potential locations in advance to get a feel for the ambiance and services offered. I’m always amazed by the times I’m told that it’s the couple’s first ever visit to their chosen location. Additionally, consider hiring local vendors, including an award winning photographer like myself, one who is familiar with the area and who can provide valuable insights. Planning ahead will ensure that your weddings are seamless and stress-free, allowing you to focus on celebrating your love.
“I was a very nervous bride and he made me feel completely at ease.“
