Introduction

St Audries Park wedding venue is a true gem Nestled in a serene 100-acre deer park, with scenic views of the picturesque Quantock Hills and the Bristol Channel, St Audries Park offers an ideal Somerset setting for your unique celebration. The venue boasts limitless photo opportunities, ensuring timeless memories of your special day. Recognized as the ‘Best Wedding Venue’ by Wedding Ideas Magazine in 2013, St Audries Park charm is evident and truly remarkable!

Having photographed numerous weddings at St Audries Park, my memories of the first ceremony there still linger, and with each event, I discover new layers of beauty in both the house and its surroundings. This venue has a wealth of offerings for all couples. The Victorian Orangery, in particular, is absolutely enchanting and serves as an ideal backdrop for your ceremony. Its bright and airy ambiance creates the perfect space for exchanging those precious vows, surrounded by your loved ones. The captivating banqueting hall adds to the allure, contributing to a truly magical wedding celebration.

St Audries History

St. Audries Park originated as a Private Manor House, initially owned by Sir Baldwin Malet. Under his ownership, extensive building works were initiated on both the manor and the estate. Subsequent generations of the Malet family continued to inhabit the property.

The Balch family acquired the estate, ushering in further modifications to the manor. Notable additions included a third floor, a gothic porch, and the construction of a splendid Orangery within the grounds, repurposed as a private Chapel. Among the Balch family’s nine children, Christiana creatively fashioned a shell grotto using local sea shells from St. Audries Bay and some acquired during her Grand Tour abroad.

In 1848, Sir Peregrine Fuller Palmer Acland purchased the estate for his daughter Isobel. The property remained in the Acland Hood family’s possession until 1934 when it transitioned into a private boarding school for girls. St. Audries witnessed its inaugural wedding ceremony in 2003.

What can we say that will do Paul’s service justice! From the get go he’s been such a bubbly character always checking in with us making sure things are going smoothly. He helped us tweak our timeline to ensure the day was perfect. From our engagement shoot to the wedding day he was like a friend, all our guests absolutely loved him and said he was such a great photographer. We’ve worked with many photographers over the past year for different shoots and occasions and he is definitely up there with the best. The value for money is unreal, the photos are to die for and we’ve definitely made a friend for life. To have someone in the wedding industry that is accepting and all for equality is not common but Paul made it happen. We cannot thank him enough and will definitely be back for anniversaries/ family photo shoots. We had so much fun and can’t believe it’s over but the photos are worth every second. Thank you Paul , wish we could do it all again, we wouldn’t change a thing!

Fun Wedding Photos at St Audries Park

I’m well known within the wedding photography industry for having a laid back attitude. Whilst I take my job very seriously, I also believe it’s possible to have fun on the day too. My wedding photos are all about capturing not only beautiful portraits but some fun ones too. After all, who wants to stand in a line all day whilst the wedding photographer says “Say Cheese!” Not me!

I always recommend using the stairs outside for the traditional confetti photos. As your wedding photographer I organise your guests to stand in a tunnel as you walk through being blasted with confetti!

Another wicked idea, especially for winter weddings would be to buy sparklers and have a sparkler send off. This is an American wedding tradition that has become popular in the UK thanks to Pinterest and social media. It does make for superb photos and as an experienced wedding photographer, I’ve got the expertise to light the photos so despite the dark, the images will still look amazing!

Here’s another fantastic suggestion – consider incorporating smoke flares into your photo session! Not only do they provide a fantastic alternative for group pictures, but they also add an element of fun to couples’ photos. Just a word of caution: handle them with care to avoid any accidental burns, and be mindful that sometimes the flares release colored powder, so take precautions with those beautiful dresses!

We were so lucky to hire Paul. My original photographer cancelled just before wedding and my makeup girl suggested Paul. What can I say … everything happens for a reason. He was so professional all through the day. He had lots of good ideas for nice and original photos and his lied back attitude makes you feel relaxed and secure knowing that there will be lots of brilliant photos. I have received photos now and god, they are awesome ❤️ I am struggling to actually choose what to put in the frame, as I love them all. Without a doubt I would hire him again!
