Waterside Country Barn Wedding

Georgie & Matt’s Waterside Country Barn Wedding: A Day to Remember

Georgie & Matt booked me to be their wedding photographer in Somerset and from the moment I met them, their infectious energy and genuine affection were simply captivating. We clicked instantly during their engagement shoot, and I knew their wedding day wouldn’t just be a celebration, it would be a joyous explosion of love and laughter and so much fun. And let me tell you, the setting for this joyride couldn’t have been more perfect!

Little did I anticipate the unexpected love I would develop for their wedding venue! Waterside country barn in Somerset, Taunton, a relatively new location for me, surpassed all expectations, proving that its novelty didn’t compromise its charm.

Morning of the wedding

On the wedding morning, my destination was Somerset Country Escape to join Georgie and her bridal squad for the pre-wedding preparations. They had opted to stay overnight in Cosy converted Barn, creating a wonderfully relaxed atmosphere before the big day. Upon my arrival, the bridal preparations were already in full swing, with makeup and hair stylists bustling about. Despite the initial concern about the weather, as the forecast had been less than promising, the vibe remained calm. As it turned out, the weather apps had once again proven to be incorrect! Well maybe a little incorrect.

Paul was effortless and he fit into our day like one of the guests.

Paul captured our wedding perfectly from start to finish – we’d highly recommend him as a photographer. Communication with Paul was effortless and he fit into our day like one of the guests. All of the little details of our day have been captured and it felt like reliving it looking through all the photos which we can cherish forever. Paul went above and beyond at our wedding, if you are thinking about booking him then you definitely will not regret it
Georgie & Matt

Ceremony time: All Saints Church, Trull, Taunton.

As I left the bride to rendezvous with Matt at the church, raindrops were falling. However, by the time I reached the destination, the sun had emerged in all its splendor (at least temporarily). Matt and his cheerful groomsmen, all clad in sharp tuxedos, awaited me at the church entrance. These gentlemen certainly looked the part! After exchanging greetings, I snapped a few group photos of them, before discreetly blending into the background to document the unfolding story. Georgie is about to make her entrance, marking the beginning of the best day of her life alongside Matt! The ceremony unfolded as a stunning and heartfelt affair, filled with smiles all around. However, just after, guess what? The rain made a return. Despite thinking we had been fortunate with the UK weather, it didn’t dampen the spirits of the couple and their guests!

Last stop of the day: Waterside Country Barn

As mentioned earlier in this blog, my initial step into Waterside Country Barn left me completely awestruck, questioning why I hadn’t had the pleasure of photographing a wedding here before. Later, I discovered that this venue is relatively new to the wedding scene, and its license initially restricted the number of weddings it could host annually. Georgie and Matt’s celebration happened to be the last one for the year. However, there’s exciting news – the venue has since received approval to host a greater number of weddings each year, and I couldn’t be more thrilled about it! Apologies for the digression, but it’s hard to contain my excitement about this stunning venue and the future it holds for many couples!

Reception

Upon my arrival, the rain had subsided, and the sun emerged, bestowing this delightful couple with an afternoon of fun in the sun alongside their friends and family. The grounds became a hive of activity as everyone explored and engaged in the laid-out garden games for some light-hearted enjoyment. After indulging in canapés and drinks, and completing the group photos, the gathering settled down for the wedding breakfast in the expansive barn hall, offering countless photo opportunities.

Georgie had a surprise in store for Matt and the guests after the meal – singing waiters who added a musical touch to the celebration. I always appreciate how these performers seamlessly integrate into the wedding breakfast, leaving everyone pleasantly bewildered. In this particular instance, one of the waiters even took a tumble in front of the top table, spilling a bucket full of cutlery in an epic fashion. It was a moment that truly set the tone and energized everyone, especially considering a few had enjoyed some drinks by this point in the day. The remainder of the day buzzed with laughter and joy. I few more fun group shots and even the bride was chucked up in the air for celebration making a pretty epic photo! Lush walk around the wedding venues grounds to capture some stunning sunset portraits with Georgie and Matt. After that the epic band- IOU’s took center stage and dominated the evening with fantastic tunes that kept the dance floor alive! The party atmosphere remained vibrant throughout the entire night.
