The Best Somerset Weddings of 2025: A Year in Review | Paul Aston Photography

2025 was an unforgettable wedding season.

It was a year packed with incredible venues, emotional ceremonies, wild dance floors, and couples who fully leaned into celebrating their people. From relaxed countryside weddings to full-on party nights, this season delivered everything I love about being a wedding photographer.

This blog is a look back at my 2025 wedding season highlights — a collection of real moments, beautiful venues, and the people who made this year so special across Somerset and beyond.

Real Moments From Real Weddings

One of the best things about being a wedding photographer in Somerset is that no two weddings ever feel the same.

Some days were loud and chaotic. Others were calm and emotional. There were happy tears during vows, huge laughs during speeches, and dance floors that never slowed down.

That is exactly why I approach weddings in a documentary and natural way. I focus on real moments as they unfold, without forcing anything or pulling people out of the moment. These photos are a true reflection of how the day felt, not just how it looked.

These are the moments that matter:

  • a nervous smile before the ceremony
  • a look between parents during the speeches
  • hugs that last a little longer than expected
  • the chaos and joy of the dance floor
  • the quiet moments in between everything else

This is what makes documentary wedding photography so powerful. It preserves the atmosphere, the emotion, and the connection in a way that feels timeless and honest.

New Venues, New Inspiration

One of the highlights of my 2025 wedding season was photographing weddings at new venues.

Exploring new spaces always brings fresh creative energy. It pushes me to see light differently, find new angles, and adapt quickly. This year, I was lucky enough to photograph weddings at some truly beautiful locations.

However, one venue stood out above the rest.

Deer Park Country House

Hands down, Deer Park was “my favourite new wedding venue of 2025”.

Set within stunning countryside, it offers incredible light, space, and variety throughout the day. From relaxed morning prep to outdoor ceremonies and golden-hour portraits, it felt like a photographer’s playground. Everything flows beautifully, which makes the day feel calm for couples and suppliers alike. Deer Park offers everything I look for as a wedding photographer.

It was my first time shooting there in 2025, and I left knowing it wouldn’t be my last. With more weddings already booked at Deer Park in the future, I am genuinely excited to return. It is a venue that works beautifully for couples who want a stylish yet relaxed wedding day, and it is easy to see why it is becoming such a popular choice.

If you are planning your day there and looking for a Deer Park Country House wedding photographer, it is a beautiful venue I look forward to attending to shoot at again.

Showing Up When Life Doesn’t Pause

While the weddings were full of joy, 2025 was also the year I lost my mum.

Running a small business doesn’t stop when life gets hard. Emails still arrive. Weddings still happen. Couples still deserve your absolute best.

Some mornings were tougher than others. Yet once I arrived at a wedding, something shifted. Weddings gave me focus and purpose. Capturing love, connection, and celebration wasn’t an escape from grief — it existed alongside it.

In many ways, this experience made me a more present wedding photographer. I paid closer attention. I felt moments more deeply. And I photographed with even more intention than before.

Gratitude for an Unforgettable Year

2025 was a year of contrast.

There was sadness, but also so much happiness. There was loss, alongside huge professional pride. And through it all, there was gratitude.

I’m incredibly thankful to every couple who trusted me to capture their wedding day. Your kindness, excitement, and warmth meant more than you will ever know. I’m also grateful to the venues and suppliers who supported me, checked in, and made long wedding days feel lighter.

These connections are what make this industry special.

Looking Ahead With Perspective

As I move forward, I carry 2025 with me.

It reinforced why I photograph weddings the way I do — honestly, naturally, and with real emotion at the heart of everything. Life isn’t perfect or polished, and weddings reflect that beautifully.

2025 wasn’t just another wedding season.
It was a year of learning, resilience, perspective, and love.

And it’s a year I will never forget.
