Devon Valley Wedding at Bickley Mill
Vicky and Deane, like most couples during this pandemic, have had to change their day several times along with suppliers. It’s been a tough time for so many, but on the 24th of July they got to have their day and it was beautiful!
It was so lovely to see so many more people at weddings now, some of which the couple have not seen for over a year, more bridesmaids alongside the bride to share her day!
The venue was at Bickley Mill which is set in a Devon Valley near Newton Abbott. A beautiful quaint setting for the couple to have their day. The travel up to Vicky and Deane was pretty horrendous with torrential rain and fog. I had my umbrellas ready for some fun shots in the rain, but when I got there the sun came out to play, and rain wasn’t seen for the rest of the day.
Vicky and Deane got married a few days before at a registry office in Newton Abbott with two witnesses, as they couldn’t get the dates to align with the registrars. Deane said it was so strange to be getting married in shorts and a t-shirt. Well, today he looked the part along with his beautiful wife, Vicky.
The ceremony that took place on the day was a beautiful blessing taken by a lovely celebrant called Clare. She had to be brought in to replace their original Celebrant Michelle who was pinged at the beginning of the week due to covid. Clare is Worcestershire Celebrant, based in Droitwich, and travelled all this way to perform such a beautiful ceremony filled with love, laughter and tears for the couple. It has amazed me how much this industry/country has come together to help each other during these really difficult times!
After the ceremony Drinks were held out on the decking, while the venue prepped the dining room for the wedding breakfast. Was so good to see people mingling and enjoying a slice of normality.
During the meal, the groom was treated to a surprise that the bride and her mum had arranged for him and the guests. The singing waiters crashed the party with “You’re too good to be true” during the dessert and the look on the Grooms's face was priceless.
I left the couple just after the first dance and when the shots started 😀
